My Local Patch

Oh for sunnier climes and panoramic vistas! Instead all I have is a patch of green, romantically called a ‘nature reserve’. A stream complete with discarded rubbish and shopping trolley. What photographic opportunities could possibly come from this? Come with me on one frosty morning in December.

Who needs exotic locations when you have so much on your doorstep! When I moved into the area a few years ago, as I mentioned at the beginning I was not impressed. While it may be true that the grass is greener elsewhere, the area around me is my local patch. As it can be accessed on foot at any time I can capture the changes throughout the year. The resulting benefit to me is that I develop my photographic eyes. So even if we don’t have a ‘nature reserve’ we do have a patch that we can call our own.
