I know what I like and what I don’t. In other words, I have opinions. These viewpoints have been formulated over time or experiences have shaped them.
However, I consider myself a good listener and am willing to change my viewpoint if persuaded by reason or evidence. Many times, too many to recount, I have found myself convinced in my view only to change it and be better for it.
This is true especially when considering my photography. I have been in front of a beautiful landscape, convinced that a wide angle lens would be the best tool to take in the vista before me. Using a telephoto lens, zooming into a small section of the same landscape has actually produced a better photo. The reverse has also proven true.
Using expired film with all its uncertainties is another example where I find my viewpoint changes.
This first photo was not what I had intended. I was using a new lens and I had chosen the wrong aperture setting. However I actually prefer it this way.
The next two shots have a very distinct blue cast due to the films age but I think it adds to the images
This last photo came out better than I imagined due to the characteristics of the lens.
