I previously posted here my initial issues with my Cannot QL17. Well it seems they are still not resolved. I would so like to like this camera if it would only work properly!🤪
Despite having removed the front lens element to clean the leaf shutter, its recent inactivity has caused it to stick again. So I repeated the same procedure and again cleaned the shutter. In addition I tried to remove the rear lens, accessed from within the film chamber. However I was only able to remove one of the lenses. So I took the opportunity to clean it and then replaced it to its rightful place. Rather than put things back together right away I decided to leave the front lens assembly out over night in the hope that this might make some difference to what I had previously done.
This morning, before putting everything back together, I ran through all shutter speeds along with apertures and was satisfied that it would work.
I initially tried to load a half used roll of Rollei Superman 200 but sadly the issue with the film lever slipping through the film sprocket holes reappeared. So I resorted to loading about a half dozen frames worth of film which worked. Hurrahh🥳
So here are those images all taken with manual selections using a hand held light meter.
Image taken with a faster shutter speed and f16
Slower shutter speed with f1.7
Slower shutter speed with f16
1/60th with f8
I was too close!
So the camera is a capable performer. So my only remaining issue appears to be – how to stop the camera apparently slipping through the film sprockets when more than a half dozen images have been taken??? 🤨
