I was gifted with this Beauty 35 Super rangefinder camera last week. As you can see it needed a little ‘Beauty’ treatment to restore it to anything like something I could go out and use.
The shutter seemed to work on all speeds ✔︎
The lens seemed free of fungus✔︎
However I discovered the focus ring was stuck on infinity and it would not budge😠
Since the front covering was already non existent was encouraged to undo the four crews holding the lens assembly on and see if I could fix the focus ring.
What do they say about beauty only being skin deep
I would now need to take the lens off the front plate.
In the image below you can see the outer black ring that holds the lens assembly, this can be unscrewed with a lens spanner
Voila!
This is where the investigation stopped
There appears to be two brass like rings around the outside of the focus collar. I assume that these would normally move inside each other allowing focus of the lens. In my case they are stuck together good and proper with no obvious way for me, with my limited knowledge and abilities , to move forward. So I reassembled.
Could I use the camera with it stuck on infinity 🤔……….. See Camera Number 400
