My children very kindly bought me some extension rings for our anniversary back in November, thank youπ
Here they are.

Because of the poor lighting conditions on the day, I was only able to test the larger 3-S. This was made exclusively for the 80mm and can be used on either the f 1.9 or 2.8 lenses. Also of note is that it must be placed as the first ring, if you were to use the others as well, closest to the camera.
I have the f2.8, as you can see below. In order to attach the ring, the lens must first be set to the widest aperture
The 3-S ring has two red lines that must be aligned together.
Then making sure that the red dot on the lens coincides with the dot on the ring the aperture coupler should fit into the lens coupler.
If that is the case then you can go ahead and rotate the ring on the extension ring clockwise until it locks.
To attach the ring/lens to the camera the red line on the ring has to be aligned to the red dot on the camera and twisted clockwise.
Et voila!
In the manual, there is a table showing the exposure adjustments that are necessary when attaching the ring to the camera for close-up photography. For my lens/ring combination it was between 2-2.5 stops. So I dutifully applied this exposure compensation. I should have read on in the manual. I have a meter in my cameras Finder and so there is no need to apply any compensation .π Doh
I have applied some curves adjustments to the following images and a little sharpening.
The film was Fomapan 400 developed in my usual caffenol developer.
In the image below the top part of the image shows where there was a piece of tape to hold the film to the backing paper. Shame, as it was one of the sharpest images.π
This was always going to be a quick test of the rings and 80mm f2.8 lens. But I am soooo pleased. Thanks again kids. π₯°
How close could I get with all three rings in place? Only one way to find out……
