I Don’t Believe it!

What would you have done if you had been in my position? Now be honest ! A camera that I thought I would never own, and yet there it was and more importantly it was within my budget😳

While it had clearly been used well, the camera was in good condition and came with a 28mm lens. More about that another time. Without hesitation I put a roll of Ilford HP5. I then developed in my usual caffenol developer and scanned the negatives.

The images all had a white vertical band one third of the way into the image. Light leak! Time to replace the light seals.

The arrows in the image below show where I replaced the light seals.

While not perfect they seemed to do the job, after all this is not camera I will be moving on! Once replaced, I took a few images, again with HP5, to test.

Success☺️

But what about the light meter. You’ll notice, starting from the left of the image above, that every other image is either dark of lighter. I was trying out the manual shutter speeds then using the automatic shutter speed setting. What is going on? Is the camera choosing intermediate shutter speeds that I can’t choose in manual mode?

To be continued……
