Out and About with the Minolta 7000i

Building on the success of the Minolta 7000, in the late 80’s Minolta produced the 7000i. One could be forgiven for thinking “not much of an upgrade.” But it is almost a totally different camera. Here are some links to articles appearing in Popular Photography. Here is a test of the autofocus and Here a review after a year and a half. Finally Here a best camera of 1990 article.

But what’s it like to use in the 2020’s ? I was very surprised at how good the auto focus was considering the 30+ years since its appearance.

This was only a first impressions experience but a favourable one. The camera felt good in the hand, focused quickly and got the exposure right. What more do you want from a camera? I will be taking it out again , perhaps trying out the focus with more challenging situations.
